Another update!

Since the last update I have really been dissecting the new songs and improved them even more with some additional stuff, making these tunes even more fantastic. I have also sorted a supposed-to-be tracklisting for the album already, but those things can be subject to small changes when everything is actually completed. Besides that, I have created proper mixes for the rest of the guys and gal of the stuff they need when they will enter the studios in a while to put down their stuff.

The album title is decided on but the actual songs do not have definite titles yet. The album cover is also a long way into the process (preview to the left of a small piece of it, hehe…), and it’s turning out kinda disturbing.  Marko Saarelainen once again shows why he’s one of the best in the business, and why he’s the only one we want to work with, ever.

What else…. Oh, yeah… No news on the label situation and we won’t start taking eventual donations just yet either; simply becoz we are not in much of a hurry. I’m sure this absolutely majestic piece will see the light of day somehow – anything else would just be wrong.

I wanna thank all the people who have gotten in touch with me over the last weeks, showing their support for The Hate. You are all phenoms.

Stay tuned for more updates and do not forget to keep an eye on our forums where we hang around on a daily basis.

Album update.

We have started to look into the plans for vocals and such as well now and it seems like J will start doing his stuff in August and Ruby will first finish up her pre-productions for me before starting do do her real takes for the album. If everything goes as planned, drums are also to be put down this fall – in September, meaning we can hopefully deliver this absolute bastard of an album to Swanö in October or something.

I will also visit Tobben and we’ll go thru everything before he tracks the drums, just to see if there’s anything I wanna change (remember Tobben’s got absolutely no boundaries as for what he’s allowed to do with this recording – he got guidelines though) or whatever. He will most probably bring on a lot of different drums and cymbals to really be able to go crazy when needed. That’s what Tobben does – that’s why he’s made out of the purest of gold.

I’m sitting here listening to the songs in the planned order they should end up on the album and it sounds amazing. This really is on another level when it comes to TPH.

And you know I am right about this. You should trust me by now, haha…

The TPH donation experiment!

If you haven’t figured out what this is about just yet, here is the post to check out.

What I want you guys to do, all of you who reads this, is to e-mail us at theprojecthate@gmail.com (ofcourse only if you feel you can donate anything at all) and tell us what you can throw our way to make the next album happen. I will ofcourse spend every little cent I can since I absolutely live for this and we have the best damned material lying around that we ever created. I do not ask anyone to donate a hundred bucks, a thousand bucks or even 10 bucks. I just wanna see if this is even doable in the long-run. Just e-mail us with a figure you think you could hand over to finance the recording and I will keep you guys updated on how everything looks in this fantasy-donation thing as we go along. To make it easy, put the amount in dollars. Spread the word about this and we’ll see what happens. I wouldn’t mind one bit to not sign with a label again and release this monster in high quality for free (not really “free” since you guys then would have paid for it to happen).

So, again – spread the word. I will fire up a document and keep everything in check and see how shit stacks up as far as eventual donations would go. This way we will know if it’s even doable to work something this way. Would it be the first time in history that the fans pay for a recording if it happens? I wouldn’t be surprised. What would surprise me though is if this actually would work. We’ll let this experiment run for quite a bit naturally and I’ll keep you updated on our forums in this topic.

Last off – lemme state that I will keep you updated on how much we get in fantasy donations, as well as if we get this going I will ofcourse stop taking donations as soon as I see we have reached the needed budget.

It’s worth a try anyways, if not just for the hell of it.

Will there be a new album? If so, how?

That title got yer attention, huh? Fear not, just wanna share some thoughts here.

I have been thinking about this for a while now since we parted ways with Vic Records and past experiences with labels, especially now when illegal downloading really hits the smaller labels and forces them out of business. I don’t even know if we’ll score a new deal with some label. I have contacted over 20 different ones, around 5 even bothered to reply so far, and for some reason I am not even surprised. They can’t put money into a small band it seems, no matter the quality that band possesses. Just look at Vicious Art for example, they are in the same boat – and it’s fucken tragic. It’s not about quality anymore (was it ever?), that one is obvious.

So what do we do if we do not score a new deal?

There is no chance that we will be able (we meaning me) to pay the recording of album number 7 ourselves. It involves quite a bit of cash to make it sound as I want it to sound – and I certainly do not wanna compromise with TPH. What is next then? Donations? I doubt there will be enough donations from Haters around the world to be serious. Maybe there would be? I have no idea, really…

I thought about perhaps trying to work it that way and then release the album for free (complete with cover and everything ofcourse).

I also thought about printing cd’s myself professionally – but let’s say I’d do a first print of a 1000 copies. That is also alot of cash on top what is needed for the actual recording so I think there’s an even lesser chance we’ll ever get to that.

We have all the plans laid out for the recordings but we haven’t set any deadlines or anything. Even less so now with the label situation. I seriously have no idea how we should work this thing to get it recorded if no record label picks us up, and as mentioned – I’m not surprised if they don’t considering how the industry is nowadays.

What do you guys think? Do you seriously think that enough people would donate cash for the recording? A funny idea is that if we were to go by all the “fans” we have on MySpace and everyone donated a dollar, we’d be recording this masterpiece in the blink of an eye, and more so. That would even pay for the printing of actual cd’s too, haha… Sadly those 8000 fans on MySpace aren’t really hardcore TPH fans, I guess.

I’m just playing with the idea if this would be possible. No, I don’t know if we should even try to make this idea into a reality – I am more interested in what your view on this whole thing is.

There’s always a chance Sony wants to sign us though. Haven’t contacted them yet. Eh…

Share your thoughts over at our forums, Haters.
